Kekoa Akana

A Native Hawaiian born and raised on the island of O‘ahu, Kekoa found the Big Island of Hawai‘i to be the perfect place for his growing family to flourish. From a young age, he honed a diverse set of skills while working for various family businesses in stage, lighting, audio and video production, autobody repair, welding, and both light and heavy-duty truck repair. These experiences instilled in him a strong entrepreneurial spirit that continues to drive his success today.

With a deep appreciation for Hawaiian culture and its traditions, Kekoa pursued a college degree in sustainable aquaculture on Hawai‘i Island, inspired by the cultural practice of feeding and sustaining the local community. However, after four years of study, he decided to take a different path to pursue his personal and professional goals.

Kekoa’s journey led him to purchase an acre of land, where he independently designed and built his own home—an experience that provided him with invaluable knowledge of Hawai‘i real estate development. This hands-on expertise naturally transitioned him into a career as a certified home inspector, a role he has excelled in for the past nine years. His firsthand experience in building his family home has given him an intimate understanding of preferred construction practices, local regulations, and the intricacies of Hawai‘i’s real estate landscape.

As a home inspector, Kekoa has gained an in-depth appreciation for the island’s diverse geography and history, learning how each region carries its own unique features and challenges.
